I recently completed the J-Spec 3S-GTE conversion with help from HUX Racing in Cocoa Florida. The car is a bit wild looking but I feel it still retains all the great lines of the MR2. I get a lot of criticism about the rims and front spoiler from some tuners (especially MR2 owners). I’m a big fan of the Ferrari 355 that’s why I picked spilt 5 star rims (and the side skirts). As for the rim size, I just feel the MR2 is more predictable when cornering with the 1995 factory size rims. 17’s and such look great and handle good in the turns but I feel they make the car harder to recover if you do loose it. As for the Phoenix's Power front spoiler… well, how many cars have you seen with a front spoiler? I wanted to make a car that was very unique even for an MR2, more like the visual style you would see in Japan. (The back engine lid is also Phoenix's Power) I made it this way because I always wanted an over the top exotic car (but could never afford one) and I like watching people’s expressions when I pull into parking lot (a lot of raised eyebrows and pointing). I had one kid ask me if it was the Batmobile… I said yes :) |
